The Studio

The foundations of Atlas Studios were defined by a personal need for an object that could hold a significant journey with the weight and care it deserved. Something permanent, authored, made to the standard of a serious publication specifically for one person. Inspired by the visual culture of art, architecture, and photography publishing, each book is designed and produced with that same discipline applied to a single person's experience of a place.

Atlas works with a small number of partners who know their clients well enough to know when this object belongs in their lives. Each book is commissioned on behalf of a specific person and delivered as part of how a journey ends. Produced by Atlas, presented by its partner, kept by the client for the rest of their life.

The Founder

I am Miguel Vega, an architect and the founder of Atlas Studios. Over the years I have built a personal library collected across cities and countries I have lived in and passed through. Books chosen to mark specific experiences, signed by the people who were part of them. Slowly, that collection became the most faithful record I have of who and where I have been.

At some point I started making my own. Knowing that a journey would become a book changed how I paid attention to it. The first time I opened one with the people closest to me and watched them encounter parts of my life they had never known, I understood the value of turning your history into an object that can be held and shared. Atlas Studios was born from the desire to make that same feeling possible for other people.
